Frequently asked questions
Answers to the questions families and carers ask us most often.
How quickly can care start?
It depends on the situation and the region. Urgent requests are prioritised, so tell us your timeline in the questionnaire and we will do everything to meet it. For complex needs requiring carer training, allow a little more time for proper preparation.
I live abroad. Can I organise care for my parent in Mauritius?
Absolutely. It is one of the main reasons Koud'min exists. The whole process works remotely: secure account, online questionnaire, calls or WhatsApp at times that suit your time zone, and regular updates in English or French.
How are carers selected?
Every carer completes a detailed questionnaire, uploads their identity documents, CV and references, and goes through a personal interview with our team. Only approved carers are proposed to families. When a case needs specific skills, we train the carer first.
Is my information kept confidential?
Yes. Access to your information is strictly role-based, files are stored securely and contact details are only shared between a family and a carer once our team confirms the match.
Is Koud'min a medical service?
No. Koud'min is a care assistance and carer matching service. We do not provide medical diagnosis or nursing acts. We complement your health professionals, we never replace them.
What does it cost?
Every situation is different, so we prepare a personalised proposal after the care needs assessment. Tell us about your situation and we will come back to you with a clear, tailored recommendation.
Can I choose the carer?
We propose the carer we believe genuinely fits your needs: region, availability, languages, experience and your preferences, including the carer's gender if that matters to you. Nothing starts without your agreement.
What if it doesn't work out with the carer?
Tell us. We follow up regularly, and if the fit is not right we look for a better match. Your loved one's well-being comes first.
I have never worked as a professional carer. Can I still apply?
Yes. Experience helps, but attitude matters most. If you have cared for a family member, or simply have the right qualities and are willing to learn, our training programme can support you.
Which regions of Mauritius do you cover?
We match families and carers across the island. Availability can vary by district, so mention your location in the questionnaire and we will confirm quickly.
